Asian Relief Medical Services (ARMS) has the same mission statement as Jesus’ ministry. Jesus and the first century Christians met the people’s physical needs and addressed their spiritual needs. As Christians, we are all called to the same. We are to proclaim the Gospel by life, Word, and deed. Yearly, the Christians in Action’s ARMS ministry in the Philippines met many medical and dental needs of the community we serve. Through these relief services, many come to Christ when we share the good news of salvation.
We know that God is already working on everyone in the community we live or serve in, all we need to do is look where God is working. God is always working on the needs of the people, so our gateway for the Gospel will always be where there is need. That is why Jesus said, “you will always have the poor with you.” He meant that there will always need to be met, most especially the poor. Although everyone is poor in the sight of God, those who are impoverished, indigent, and destitute are closer to the heart of God.
Look around you and find where the needs are and fill those needs then share the Gospel to those whose needs have been met and see God move and touch and bring positive changes into the lives of those He entrusted us to care for. As Christians, we have the Spirit of God in us and we are all called to a ministry of reconciliation (reconciling man to God). And by reconciling others to God, we are proclaiming the Year of the Lord’s favor when our spiritual debts are forgiven eternally.
Go ye therefore and make disciples of Christ and pray the Lord of the harvest to send more workers into the field.
Matthew 9:37-38 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
