I have lead worship at Journey Church for the past three years. However, the English speaking church closed a few months ago soon after the Pastor and his family felt called to go back to the States. Long story short, God opened the door for me to reconnect with a longtime friend, Pastor Tony Hernandez from a Hispanic church that has grown to over 250 members in the past ten years and as of December 3rd I am their new worship director. I feel honored along with Gaby to join their team and church family. This director role will be a little different from my previous one. Since the church already has about 4 or 5 worship leaders I won’t have to be leading worship every service and instead focus more on the structure and programming of the calendar and also investing and building the team of worship leaders.
The pictures above are from the third and final youth conference we had this year. About 100 people came to each of our youth conferences and we were able to successfully communicate the vision and the need to be “United and Prepared for the Great Commission”. We presented the 2017 Challenge which involves committing personally to bringing someone to Christ next year and be involved in the process of discipling them and bringing them to Church. 53 people signed the challenge!
So what does this mean for next year? The first 6 months of the year involves visiting each of our 16 churches to offer some disciple and evangelism training and to keep up with and motivate those who signed the challenge card. Along with that, we will again do three regional youth conferences involving more and more the leaders and teens from the regional churches and hoping that these conferences continue to motivate the teens towards making the youth ministry’s vision their own.
We were about $600 dollars short on our final youth conference to cover all of the costs, but without freaking out and just staying busy and faithful, someone gave us $700 towards our youth conference. Praise God!
